Enrollment and teachers

  • District count: 662 students on Aug. 21, 2026, the 10th day of the 2026-27 school year. That is eight more than on the same day in 2025, according to the district’s Tenth Day Enrollment Count.
  • Federal count: 681 students in the 2023-24 school year, with 39 full-time-equivalent teachers, according to the NCES directory. That works out to about 17 students per teacher.
  • Building use: the district’s Redefining Our Schools 2026-27 data report (PDF) counts 663 students in a building with permanent space for 1,133, or 58.5% full. It lists the school among those below 70% of permanent capacity.

State report card

Florida grades every public school A to F. A school’s grade is the share of possible points it earns on state test results, learning gains and, for high schools, the graduation rate and college and career acceleration. The state’s 2026 file sets an A for a middle school at 64% of points or more.

School year Grade
2025-26 B (63% of possible points)
2024-25 C
2023-24 C

From the state’s 2026 school grades file, the share of students scoring on grade level on the state tests in 2025-26:

  • English language arts: 59%
  • Math: 54%
  • Science: 63%
  • Social studies: 74%
  • Middle school acceleration (a state grading component): 71%

Attendance zone, feeder schools and the district’s proposal

Check any address with the district’s Find My School tool or the William Dandy Middle zone map (PDF). About 54% of the zone’s area is in Fort Lauderdale; the rest is split between Lauderdale Lakes and Oakland Park.

Comparing the district’s attendance boundaries:

  • Elementary schools that feed it: Rock Island (about 48% of the zone’s area), Thurgood Marshall (25%), Park Lakes (13%) and Larkdale (4%). About 11% was in the former North Fork Elementary zone.
  • High school: Boyd H. Anderson for about 61% of the zone and Dillard 6-12 for about 39%.

North Fork Elementary closed. On Jan. 21, 2026, the School Board consolidated North Fork Elementary into Croissant Park, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Thurgood Marshall and Walker elementaries for 2026-27, according to the district’s May 12 Redefining Our Schools update (PDF). Broward County’s boundary map data still draws the old North Fork zone, so the shares on this page treat it separately; the district’s 2026-27 zone maps and Find My School tool are the authority.

Proposal under review. The district’s 2026-27 Redefining Our Schools round proposes moving William Dandy’s students into Parkway Middle in Lauderhill. At the School Board’s Oct. 6 workshop, the district’s presentation (PDF) set out three options: go ahead with that move; instead move the sixth to eighth graders at Dillard 6-12 into Parkway and keep Dandy as a 6-8 school; or do both.

The same presentation says 891 students live in Dandy’s boundary and 474 of them, 53.2%, attend it, while 171 attend charter schools and 246 attend other district schools. It records community feedback that Dandy “has rich history and excellent programs that need to remain.” Nothing has been decided. The board’s final vote is set for Tuesday, Dec. 15, with families notified Dec. 16.

Calendar and bell times

From the district’s 2026-27 calendar synopsis (PDF):

  • Nov. 23-27: Thanksgiving break
  • Dec. 21 to Jan. 1, 2027: winter break; classes resume Tuesday, Jan. 5

The school posts its daily and early release schedule on its bell schedule page.

Magnet programs

The school’s magnet and specialized programs page lists two magnets:

  • Pre-Medical Magnet, which the school says pairs high school credit courses such as algebra, biology and geometry with simulations, field experiences and visits from health professionals
  • Pre-Law Magnet, with criminal law, street law, constitutional law and mock trials alongside attorneys in the school’s courtroom
