How admission works
The school’s enrollment page says the only requirements to begin enrolling are being 15 to 21 years old and needing to complete grade 9, 10, 11 or 12. It offers open enrollment all year.
Its About page says students start in a transition lab that assesses their needs and sets a graduation plan, and that the school runs morning and afternoon sessions. Its FAQ says graduates receive a state-recognized diploma, not a GED, and that the school is accredited by Cognia.
Enrollment and teachers
- District count: 257 students on Aug. 21, 2026, the 10th day of the 2026-27 school year. That is 89 fewer than on the same day in 2025, according to the district’s Tenth Day Enrollment Count.
- Federal count: 297 students in the 2023-24 school year, with 6 full-time-equivalent teachers, according to the NCES directory. That works out to about 50 students per teacher.
On the district’s Aug. 21 count, 190 of the 257 students were seniors, 55 were juniors and 12 were sophomores.
State report card
SunEd High of South Broward is not in Florida’s 2026 school grades file. Florida can rate alternative schools under a separate school improvement rating system instead of A to F grades. The school’s state report card holds its test results, graduation figures and student counts; it is an interactive dashboard that could not be read for this page.
The school’s principal’s message says it was rated “Commendable” for the 2023-24 school year.
Attendance zone
SunEd has no attendance zone. High school students who live in Fort Lauderdale are also zoned for a district high school, which the district’s Find My School tool shows by address.
Calendar and hours
The school posts its calendar on its school calendar page. Its FAQ says schedules are flexible, built around students’ work and family needs.
