Safety
From the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Halloween food safety tips:
- Feed children a light meal before they go out, and ask them to wait until they get home to eat any treats.
- Eat only commercially wrapped treats. Check wrappers for pinholes, tears or discoloration, and throw away anything that looks wrong.
- If your child has a food allergy, read the labels and skip home-baked treats.
A few more points for a Saturday night Halloween:
- Carry a flashlight, and add reflective tape to dark costumes.
- Stick to sidewalks and cross at corners.
- Florida’s sexual offender and predator registry is searchable by address on the Florida Department of Law Enforcement site.
- Emergencies: 911.
